Alex and Vy had a beautiful Chinese-Vietnamese wedding tea ceremony before their traditional white wedding. The day started with the wedding party getting ready at an airbnb in Scottsdale. There, they played some door games, which is a fun and lighthearted tradition to look forward to at any wedding celebration. Before the groom was able to see his bride, Vy was hidden away by her bridesmaids. To enter the airbnb, the bridesmaids had to collect red envelopes from the groom and his groomsmen. Once they were allowed in, they played games in the living room. They played “pop the balloons using body only”, “guess the lipstick” and even made them do spicy noodle challenge!
The wedding tea ceremony officially started when the bride, groom, bridal party and the bride’s family arrived at the groom’s family’s house. The groomsmen carried gifts that are stored in red tins and covered with traditional red clothes. These gifts are presented to the bride’s family to show they value the bride and her family. During the ceremony, they light incense to ask for blessing from their ancestors. They also will have a tea ceremony where both the bride and broom thanked both sets of parents for their sacrifices and offer them tea.
